Carol Quinn an oil painter of light filled California landscapes, resides in the Northern California town of Folsom. After moving to the state in 1965 she was captivated by the clear, brilliant light and the rich colors of the land. The California impressionist movement from the turn of the 20th century had a great influence on her, igniting a passion for the landscape, vibrant color, light and beauty. Her home in Folsom is in relatively close proximity to the Gold Country, Lake Tahoe, the Sierra, Yosemite and the coast, all which provide endless inspiration. The strong light against striking shadows is an irresistible motif to her. Carol's passion is to paint scenes that reflect not only the rich heritage of California's incredible and varied landscape, but also take the viewer there as well. "In such a rushed and chaotic world, my paintings are an emotional gift to the viewer inviting them to an oasis of calm and awe inspiring nature", she says. "One should feel like they have just stepped into the scene." Many collectors of Carol's work have remarked on how a painting reminded them of a place they had been and evoked feelings of peace.
